Born and raised in Cuba, Cordero followed his family’s rich musical traditions from an early age. In 1992, new life was breathed into these traditions when he and his band were invited to perform at the famous ’Calle Ocho’ festival in Miami. The performance led to a record deal and the subsequent recording in Miami of the first album, "Rompiendo el hielo", which was such a success that it remained on the American charts for 6 months.
The recording of four further albums, “Del Norte Y Tropical” in 1996 and “AL TIEMPO” in 1999 followed this success. ”AL TIEMPO” won the Danish World Music Awards in 2000, SALSA GLOBAL, which was recorded in 2001 at the famous Cuban singer Willie Chirino’s ‘Zarabanda Studios’ in Miami, has become Jorge’s testament to his high standards of quality and musicianship.
